Hi There and Welcome!

Born and raised in Austin, I knew at age 13 that I wanted to be a therapist. I earned a dual licensure in both professional counseling and marriage and family therapy so that I would be qualified to help individuals, couples, and families address a wide range of life issues.

Over the past 14 years in private practice, I have developed my clinical specialties to address the unique challenges of adult males, couples and moms. I am ultimately fascinated by the notion of “life” and where it organically takes us. In addition, I have focused my studies on the notion of long term romantic relationships, and how they mirror the relationship that we had with our caretakers.

My therapeutic approach is authentic, genuine, and open-minded. I use techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (top down approach) and systems theory (relational approach) to a full mind and body approach (bottom up). Ultimately, I strive to help people build healthy relationships with themselves and others.

Education & Training

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminology – University of Denver

Master of Arts in Counseling – St. Edward’s University

Favorite Quotes

You wanted to take on the world and you did, but somewhere along the line you changed and stopped being you. You let someone stick a finger in your face and tell you you’re no good. And when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame, like a big shadow. Let me tell you something that you already know, the world is not all sunshine and rainbows. It is a mean nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. Nobody is going to hit you harder than life, but it’s not about how hard you hit its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning works. Now if you know what you are worth than go out and get, but you have got to be willing to take the hits and not pointing fingers. But until you start believing in yourself you are not going to have a life.

“Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that’s just fabulous.”
